STAFF and volunteers with different religions and beliefs joined together in a lunchtime celebration at Basildon University Hospital, to mark the end of Ramadan.
During this holy month, Muslims fast during daylight hours and place a particular focus on prayer and acts of charity.
The event was organised by Trust chaplain Zuned Ussen and Dr Khorshid Khalifa, consultant, paediatrics.
Guests enjoyed a curry lunch, with a talk by a visiting Imam, Umair Zulfiqar, who spoke of the long history of harmony between Muslims and Christians, and the many similarities to be found between the Bible and the Quraan.
Linda Peall, lead chaplain at the Trust, thanked everyone for attending, adding: “Together we go forward and keep working together for all our patients.”
