Basildon Hospital misses targets for A and E, cancer treatment and operations

Basildon and Thurrock Hospital

BASILDON and Thurrock University Hospital has missed a number of key targets.

The BBC has launched a tracker system which will monitor whether the hospital is meeting its targets.

The NHS is under unprecedented pressure. Rising numbers of patients need hospital care – whether in an accident and emergency department, for cancer treatment or for planned operations and care, such as knee and hip replacements.

For each there are strict targets local services are expected to meet across the UK. But what are the chances of being seen in time where you live? Use our interactive tracker to find out.

We will publish the targets each week.

A and E:
91.3% of patients are seen within four hours
Target is 95%
National average is 89.7%

Cancer Care

72.4% of patients begin treatment within 62 days of urgent GP referral
Target is 85%
National Average is 82.6%

Planned Operations and Care

82.3% of patients waiting less than 18 weeks
Target is 92%
National Average is 89.4%
