A woman who was left seriously injured after a crash on the Dartford Crossing has died.
The 21-year-old, from Essex, was driving her Audi A1 on the southbound carriageway of the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge when she was involved in a collision with a lorry at 4.42am on Friday.
The collision happened on the Kent side of the crossing and a 25-year-old man from Croydon was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The woman was airlifted to King’s College Hospital in a serious condition but died today.
The bridge was closed for nine hours while the emergency services dealt with the incident and a diversion was put in place through the Blackwall Tunnel.
The driver of the lorry has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
