A BASILDON lady has cycled the length of the UK to raise money for personal protective equipment (PPE) for Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital.
Louise Douglass cycled from Lands end to John O’Groats Virtual Cycle from the 4th April until the 12th April.
As of this afternoon (14th April), £885 has been raised.
Prior to the cycle, Louise posted the following message on her JustGiving page:
“While in Lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, I have decided to raise well needed funds for my local hospital trusts towards the desperately needed PPE that all of the NHS staff need in Order to keep themselves, their families and their patients safe during these challenging times.
“While studying for my Masters Degree I worked at a London hospital and I know first hand just how hard all of the staff work day in and day out, so I can only imagine how tough these last few weeks have been!”
“This is just my way of being able to help in some way! If you can support this cause in some way no matter how small…I will be greatly appreciative!”
“My legs will hate me for the next two weeks but it will be worth it!”
