197 PATIENTS are sadly confirmed to have died at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital with coronavirus according to the latest figures released by NHS England today (Tuesday April 21).
This is rise of eight on yesterday’s figure (Monday 20 April).
This means sadly the hospital remains the worst-hit out of six trusts in Essex and one of the worst-hit in whole of the East of England.
The latest figures show a further 39 patients are confirmed to have died with coronavirus in and around Essex in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths in the area to 989.
Essex hospital trusts have recorded 785 of those deaths.
A further 204 patients are confirmed to have died with coronavirus at the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust on the other side of the official county border.
Please note that statistics at this stage only take into account coronavirus-related hospital deaths and official figures for other parts of the community, such as care homes, are yet to be released.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by the coronavirus.
