THERE IS always a great atmosphere at the What PA sessions at Orsett Hall. Great sounds, great sets, in a really relaxed atmosphere. Here we drop in on About Six 0′ Clock whose acoustic guitar work certainly impressed the audience.
And I hadn’t even started on the fish yet. A generous slab of halibut cooked with lots of due care and attention. There’s nothing worse than overcooking a really good bit of fish, or masking the taste with too much seasoning or sauce. Those would be examples of the wrong way to treat a good bit of fish.
The halibut was a prime example of exactly the right way to treat a good bit of fish. It was done to perfection. Not too dry, not too moist, and a generous pinch of salt but not so much that it overpowered the taste of the fish. It worked so well with the already impressive duelling flavours of the lentils and chorizo that the three tastes combined in the mouth to create a holy trinity of flavours.
YOUR THURROCK doesn’t really do weddings but we make an exception for the marriage of Mark Allen and Katrina Einchcomb at Orsett Hall yesterday (Friday).
The beautiful setting was complimented by Katrina’s forensic organisational skills that have made her a rising star at Brit Insurance. Mark, a man so laid back, he is almost horizontal glided through the day with his usual aplomb.
Richard Carter is recognised as the voice and face of George Michael from Stars In Their Eyes and has since established himself as the UK’s premier tribute to Michael Buble. This has made him the only tribute in the UK presenting this outstanding multiple tribute show. Three course choice menu inclusive of half a bottle of red or white wine per person. A deposit of £15.00 is required for each member of your party. Arrival time from 6.30pm. Meal will be served at 7.30pm prompt.
The first thing that strikes you is the decor. They have gone for a striking boutique effect with bold pastel colours. That can only work if the food matches and it certainly does. The tasting menu dazzled from the very beginning where a tasty crab bisque set up your palette for further delights. Each dish through the pate, fish and chicken had something to say for itself. There was always something that stood out: not just the texture of the fish or chicken but the subtle use of herbs and sauces.

ORSETT HALL is holding a Wedding Fayre on Sunday from 11am to 5pm. For many brides across the country, Orsett Hall is the first place on their minds when their partner proposes. Katrina Einchcomb from Harlow said: “When my boyfriend Mark proposed to me on Valentines Day last year, the first venue in my mind was Orsett Hall. We went to the Fayre and that confirmed to me that this was the place fo rus to get married.
THE BOYS had them dancing in the aisles and waving their hands in the air as they produced a storming set at the Orsett Hall on Friday night. The set went through all the hits from the early years of “Relight my Fire” and ‘Back for Good” to The Circus and all the hits.
IT IS always a brave thing for an artist to get up there when they have a cold but David Fill was in good company as there was a relaxed feel to the Open Mic evening at Orsett Hall recently.
CAMPION student Joshua Taylor has been impressing all and sundry at Orsett Hall over the last few weeks. He is spending his time on work experience at the prestigious hotel and that means learning everything. Serving, answering phones, more serving, cleaning and making sure he is learning all the time. It isn’t easy but Josh seems to be enjoying it and he is greatly helped under care of Nicola Haynes.
Here are two of the artistes we managed to film on the night . Georgia Strand, who as always gave a stunning set and a Chelmsford based band “ The Skylight Crowd” who really really impressed everyone.
Over 3000 people attended the Family Fun Day at the Orsett Hall on Bank Holiday Monday in the glorious sunshine. The event was organized by The Partyman Company and Orsett Hall and was such a success that they hope to make it an annual event.
