ROGER Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, has today published a letter on public confidence in policing.

In the letter, Mr Hirst sets out his expectations of policing in Essex and the assurances he has received regarding Essex Police policies and training on professionalism and culture.

Within the letter, Mr Hirst states:

“There can be no two-tier policing in this county. Policing in Essex must be conducted impartially at all times: everyone is equal before the law.”

The letter also reiterates Mr Hirst’s position that policing decisions must be based on facts, evidence and the law, and his commitment to holding the Chief Constable to account for maintaining the high standards the people of Essex rightly expect and deserve from their police service.
