THURROCK marathon runners have pledged to not let the tragic events in Boston prevent them from getting to the starting line at Sundays London Marathon.

YT has been tracking the runners over the winter and had spoken to them all last week as they made their final preparations for the big race.

However, the horrific news from Boston led us to give them a call and see if they were still going to run.

Scout leader, David Tapsell said: “Absolutely. I think we owe it to those who have lost their lives and suffered.

“I am sure security will be tight and I am also sure that we will all be vigilant.”

Business consultant, Meena Mitra has also shown a steely resolve in the face of the tragic news.

Meena said: “Naturally, i think we will all be a little nervous. What has happened is tragic but I will be just one of thousands of runners who will not be put off on raising money for good causes all over the country and all over the world,”
