The Mayor and Mayoress of Thurrock will be joining other specially invited guests for the eleventh annual European Picnic in Poland this weekend. (May 9 and 10).
Mayor Cllr John Everett and Mayoress June Everett, as well as Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet member for Central Services and Thurrock Council’s director of Sustainable Communities, Bill Newman, will join the Polish Mayor of Plock, Miroslaw Milewski, at the event.
The European Picnic is an annual celebration for citizens of Plock, Poland and guests from sister cities and includes concerts, exhibitions and culinary shows which create a unique opportunity to present the cultural heritage of the cities and countries invited.
Thurrock became a sister city of Plock in 2004 when it signed a Partnership Agreement to help develop its links with European nations to benefit from more funding, trade, commercial, training and development opportunities.
