Collins House: Care Is There

Late last year, Collins House Care Home in Corringham reached its lowest point when it received a zero rating from the Commission Social Care Inspectorate (CSCI).

It was particularly disappointing as this was the only Care Home that Thurrock Council had responsibility for. One of the key criticisms in the reports was that the Home was being run for the convenience of the staff and not the residents. The reports gave the impression that the Home was somewhat akin to a “One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest” institution.

Now, changes have been made with Acting Manager Kay Kimmings leading an improvement team dedicated to creating a flagship care home for the borough.

This is the first of two films we made at Collins House, looking at the improvements that have been made over the last six months.

It has started to work: The latest report moved them up from zero to one star.
