Anti-racism groups in Thurrock have pleaded with voters to get out and vote to keep out the BNP.
Chair of Thurrock Racial Unity Support Taskgroup (TRUST) Mr Sullander Singh said:
“It was very disappointing to hear that the BNP was in Thurrock launching its European Election Campaign, this was covered by the media on television, in local and national newspapers.
“Thurrock is one of the most diverse boroughs in England and its through the very hard work of TRUST, Thurrock Council, Police, Statutory bodies and the many other Community and Voluntary groups that such success has been achieved.
“The BNP has no place in any civilised community as it has beliefs which are seen as being racist and discriminatory.
“These BNP views should be addressed by the public in the forthcoming European Elections on Thursday 4th June.
“Please ensure your voice and feelings are known at the rightful place of the ballot box – Use your vote its very important.”
