“Invest Don’t Cut” MP’s Plea to Council

LOCAL MP Angela Smith has pleaded with Thurrock Council’s Tory bosses to think again over the proposed £8 million worth of budget cuts.

In a forceful attack, Angela Smith calls it an ill-thought out budget that will cause the most pain to the most people in Thurrock.

The Basildon South and East Thurrock MP makes specific reference to the “kingmaker councillors’ from East Tilbury saying:

“If they support the budget, then Cllrs Purkiss and Palmer do not have the best interests of the borough at heart.”

As Minister for the Voluntary Sector Angela Smith explained how funding cuts could have a knock on effect by possibly cutting off funding streams from other agencies.
