PUBLIC AND PRESS alike expected a meeting of bitterness and rancour when the Children Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee met last night to discuss the budget proposals.
Labour led by Diana Hale, Lynn Worrall and Marion Canavon performed admirably in assessing and scrutinising the fine print of the savings proposals.
But they were also met by a strong performance by the Children’s Services team led by Director Jo Olsson who went through proposal by prosposal illustrating that many of the savings were justified and in keeping with a common sense budget.
