GEOFF WILLIAMS is in confident mood going into the election. The Basildon South and East Thurrock candidate has been a councillor in Basildon since 1981 and is well known and respected in the political scene. But is it the knowledge that with the possibility of a hung parliament, the Lib-Dems, if not exactly king-makers, then certainly have the ear and eyes of the other parties watching them.
Angela Smith may be concerned that Geoff, may eat into her vote. It may not be much: but it may be enough.
We spoke to Geoff at his Laingdon home to assess the mood in the Lib-Dem camp and how they will be fighting the campaign.
