CARING for someone is one of the most satisfying acts of kindness a person can bestow. Thurrock’s Adult Social Care Team is once again leading the way in providing a care infrastructure around the borough.
The whole scheme is not a simple “sign here and get on with it” but rather a detailed and planned system to enable people to volunteer and be trained so as to gain the maximum benefit. In many cases it is hoped that people may use their time volunteering as the first steps on career ladder; others because they believe it would be the right thing to do.
We spoke to Corporate Director for Adult Social Care (ASC), Lorna Payne, not only about the scheme but many of the other challenges and opportunities facing Adult Social Care. Whereas other departments are floundering in red flag status (i.e: not good) ASC it seems is within touching distance of the cherished Green Flag.
