Candidates’ Debate in St Margarets

CANDIDATES from the South Basildon and East Thurrock constituency gathered together at St Margarets church in Stanford to see if they could persuade the congregation to vote for them.

In a convivial atmosphere, the candidates laid out their policies, campaigns and pledges.

The debate was organised by Transformation Thurrock.

Full report to follow.

  1. Labour must lose Sth Basildon and East Thurrock or they will secure another Commons majority. Lib Dems, UKIPers and Greens can safely vote Tory to stop them without giving Cameron his own majority, whereas 100 seats further down the Tory target list in Thurrock a Tory vote is too risky. A win there probably means a Tory Commons majority, so in Thurrock Labour must be supported to stop them.
