RENAISSANCE MAN, Matt Harris has added another string to his bow by finishing the Alacatraz Marathon in San Francisco.
Matt, an experienced explorer and web designer completed the course in 2 hrs 51 min as well as raising over £1,000 for the Callum Branch charity.
Matt said: “Well I survived the swim from The Rock and achieved an overall finish time of 2 hours 51 minutes (I was aiming for sub 3 hours so I’m very happy with that) as well as a swim that put me in the top 10% of finishers (1.5 miles in 28 minutes – the thought of Great Whites makes you swim faster strangely enough !) around 16% didn’t finish and many had to be dragged from the water, so in all a great day out…(and the water was nowhere near as cold as Canvey Island!!)
Matt, 40, aims to continue his triathlon adventures with further runs this year culminating in a Half Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run!
