Labour Ring Changes For Planning Committee

NEW Thurrock Council Leader, cllr John Kent wasted no time stamping his authority on the council by placing three new councillors on the controversial Planning Committee.

The new chairman will be former Tory leader, cllr Terry Hipsey with cllr Martin Healey as vice-chair. New Tilbury councillor Steve Liddiard,a former council officer, joins the team with just cllr Gerard Rice remaining of the old Labour guard.

The Tories have decided against any such clear-out with cllr’s Steven Veryard and Joy Redsell returning, joined by Rob Geldhill and new boy Phil Anderson.

The independent and non-aligned councillors have yet to declare which committees they are on but the numbers mean the former chair and vice-chair of planning Stuart St-Clair Haslam and Barry Palmer may be scrapping over the one seat.

  1. So Tory Turncoat Hipsey has landed a plum job with the council, he should not be in office until such time that he has had the public vote after changing parties part way through his term.
