Thurrock can now boast a League One Club on its doorstep as Dagenham & Redbridge completed their rapid ascension from the Ryman League into the third level of British Football.
Goals from Paul Benson, Danny Green and Jon Nurse saw the Daggers beat Rotherham 3-2 in the Wembley Play off Final on Sunday.
The Victoria Road club will now face the likes of Southampton ,Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton next season.
Former Grays Star Stuart Thurgood had to watch the game from the benches as he is still fighting fitness with a knee injury,
For this yourthurrock reporter Sunday was a very special day as I was given the opportunity to entertain the daggers crowd and although nervous it was an unforgettable experience.
Time will only tell if Daggers can survive the dizzy heights of league one but with the spirit and determination they have shown this season then they will be a tough team to beat.
