Thurrock Embraces Peoples’ Opera

A new series of community workshops focusing on singing, acting, music-making, prop-making, costumes, backstage skills and front of house management have started at South Essex College (formerly Thurrock and Basildon College), Woodview Campus in Grays.

Run by Royal Opera House artists and professionals, these workshops are part of the preparation for the High House People’s Opera, a community project to celebrate the opening of the Royal Opera House Bob and Tamar Production Workshop in Purfleet in December.

They now need even more people to get involved. No special skills are needed just an interest in the project, a willingness to learn and enthusiasm to get involved! Come and help us to put Purfleet on the world stage!

Local Thurrock residents and students have been taking part in weekly workshops with Royal Opera House staff since January and have already developed initial designs, stories and characters for the High House People’s Opera.

So if you’re interested in getting involved in any way, behind the scenes, centre stage or front of house, please contact 01375 413391 or email getinvolved@roh.org.uk
