Big Mac Confident Of Toppling Tyson

NICE GUYS, now and again come first. Let us hope that applies to Chafford heavyweight John McDermott who fights Tyson Fury at the Brentwood Centre on friday.

Fans, press and friends were outraged last September when referee Terry O’Connor awarded the fight to Fury 98-92.

The British Boxing Board of Control ordered an immediate rematch.

Promoter Frank Maloney has billed the fight, ‘The Conspiracy Fury’ but John is just concentrating on his game.

John, 30 said: “Training has been going well. Working with Jim McDonnell has been great, We have been working on a lot more leg-work and tactics to give us the best chance possible.

“I ignore a lot of the hype about the fight. All the business about revenge and injustice. We just get on with the fight in hand.”

The fight will be beamed live on Sky Sports 2 at 10.30pm on friday night.

John’s manager John Branch also reflects on John’s chances.
