Police and their partners from the Thurrock Community Safety Partnership joined forces yesterday, July 29, to ask residents of Chadwell St Mary what issues matter to them the most at Chadwell Library.

Essex Police, Essex Police Authority, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, Thurrock Council and Neighbourhood Watch were amongst those hosting stands outside the library to offer advice and support to local residents on a whole host of issues.

Maureen Browning, from the Essex Police Authority, was also on hand to hear from residents what they want to see police addressing in the area, and asked them to say what crimes should be police’s top three priorities, including robbery, violent crime, burglary and anti-social behaviour.

Steven Greener, Thurrock community safety manager for Essex Police, said: “These events are important, as it allows the public to access a whole host of services to help them in one location, and we had some really crucial questions and problems to solve from those who visited us.”

Janet Davison, Thurrock community safety development officer, added: “By all getting together in a visible place, we can demonstrate to residents of Thurrock that we all work together every day to make this area safer, and make it feel safer too.”
