To celebrate National Play Day scores of young children explored from “Base Camp” on Tuesday (4 August), learning to work together while “going into battle”!

Base Camp — organised by Thurrock Council’s Central Cluster of schools and Sportacular was held at Thameside Junior and Infant schools in Manor Road, Grays.

The aim was to allow all 64 young children to work in team situations, building a “base camp” den to defend against the other teams.

Organisers ensured that a wide variety of games were introduced such as Attack Attack and Capture the Flag — both “mini battles” — and the team winning the most battles won the war!

The children had great fun — naming their teams Fighting Thunderbolts, The A Team, Desert Eagles and the Camouflage Crew.
