A GIRL, 17, was sentenced to four months detention for stealing a £60 bike after a magistrate told her he had been left with no choice.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pled guilty to stealing a bicycle on the 4th August at Corringham Town Centre.
She had told the police: “He had given me the big mouth so I nicked the bike.”
Chairman of Magistrates, Peter Samson heard that the girl had been incarcerated on a number of occasions and this offence was a breach of her current licence.
The Youth Offending Team informed the court that she refused to work with them.
He said: “I fear that even at the age of seventeen, you are becoming instiutionalised but you leave us no choice.”
She was sentenced to a four month detention and training order.

About time that the courts started handing out custodial sentences to these scrotes, all too long they have allowed them to get away with a slap on the wrist.
