GRAYS strolled to a comfortable victory in difficult conditions to run out 3-0 winners against Ilford.

Grays dominated the first half and were determined to keep the ball on the floor despite the heavy rain.

Simon Thomas opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Man of the Match, Stephen Demeteriou showed quick feet as he dropped his shoulder, danced past the Ilford defence before he slipped it to Simon Thomas who slipped it easily past the keeper.

Grays second was even easier after the defence failed to clear. In the 39th minute, Jared Small had time to tee up his shot and shoot past the keeper.

The second half was a much more tepid affair. Grays lost Stuart Robertson to injury. Ilford enjoyed greater possession but failed to trouble Ross Brown.

At the other end, a cross from Jared Small skidded across the face of the goal. Too many of Grays passes went astray but Ilford just couldn’t capitalise.

However in the 84th minute, Junior Baker was able to capitalise on more slap-dash defending to pop the ball home from close range to make it four wins in a row for Grays.
