IT has been an absolute joy reading Sheila Steafel’s autobiography “When Harry met Sheila”. Harry is Harry H Corbett of Steptoe and Son fame and she not only met him but married him.
Sheila is one of those actresses who has performed with so many stars from the fifties onwards that it reads like a who’s who of british character actresses.
The book starts with her childhood in South Africa before moving on to England in the fifties.
There is a tendency for this reporter of a certain age to ask Sheila all about the people she acted with and not about herself but we implore you to read the book. it is witty, poignant and packed with anecdotes.
