FORMER Dollar singer and star of Louie Spence’s “Showbusiness” is set to top the bill at a charity concert at the Thameside Theatre next month.
The ‘Now and Then’ charity music event has been organised in order to raise funds for Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
The show is being organised by Chafford school student Jack Hamilton. Jack spoke to YT and told us why he decided to organise the concert.
He said: ” I organised the concert because of a relative who’s experience of illness inspired me to raise money for a charity such as this. My younger cousin was diagnosed with Anoplastic Large Cell Lymphoma in December 2008, which is an extremely rare type of leukemia, while hospitalised in Great Ormond Street Hospital we met a young family who had a child of two years old in the hospital.
“Unfortunately, the young child’s health began to deteriorate and he was referred to Little Havens Hospice where not long before his third birthday, he passed away.
“This inspired me to make the childrens lives as happy as possible before they pass away, so ‘I decided to combine my passion of music with the support of children’s lives and make a difference my way with the help of some amazing friends’.
The show is a music show encapsulating genres from the 1950s to modern hits, moulding the two to attract a wider audience span. Many young local talents will be included in the night’s itinerary including an established favourite of Thurrock, Luke Coldham, and some more talents to look out for in the future.
Music star of the 1980s and television personality ‘David Van Day’ will also be performing selected hits on the night, in order to support our funds raised for the hospice.
The show is being held at the Thameside Theatre, Grays on Tuesday 29th March 2011 19:30 – 21:30.
The music will range through all eras, including some modern and pre 1950 musicals throughout. Tickets are priced at £7.00 for adults and £4.00 for under 16s or students with a valid student I.D card.
