Police are appealing for witnesses after a large amount of scuba diving equipment was stolen in a house burglary in Lowlands Road, Aveley.

Between 8.30pm on Monday, February 28 and 2.15pm on Tuesday, March 1, a suspect smashed glass in a rear door, causing £300 damage. A laptop, worth an estimated £450 was stolen, along with an estimated £14,000 worth of scuba diving equipment. Three complete sets of equipment for divers were stolen, and included three of each of Regulators, BCD’s, Wetsuits, Drysuits, Fins, Masks, Gloves and Torches.

Investigating officer, Pc Hannah Millyard, said: “It has been very distressing for the victims to not only have their house broken into, but to lose three sets of scuba diving equipment, which means a lot to them. This is obviously quite a specialised haul, so if you are approached to buy these items, I urge you to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pc Hannah Millyard at the Thurrock CID target team on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
