THE SON of Stanford-le-Hope Rev John Guest was in Tokyo when the Tsunami struck Japan two weeks ago.
English teacher, Ben Guest, 25, was in Tokyo when the Tsunami struck Japan. He initially retreated south to Osaka but has since returned to his teaching duties in Tokyo.
These are anxious times for his family back in Stanford as they await news from Ben.
The Guest family were planning to travel out to see their son but those plans have now been put on hold after the Tsunami hit two weeks ago, claiming thousands of lives.
Rev Guest said: “Naturally, our thoughts and prayers are with all the people of Japan. Those who have lost their lives, their families and all those who have been devastated by the tragedy.
“We have had sporadic contact with Ben. Communication systems have been up and down but we have spoken a couple of times.
“He is back teaching despite their being no heating, light and constant power cuts in the school.
“Ben has no plans to return before September. However, he is safe and well.”
I have met Rev John Guest on very few occassions but i have always found him to be a lovely and genuine man. I am glad to hear that his son is safe and well and i am sure that Rev John will be only too happy to have him home in September.
