Covo says: “One step nearer but we are not there yet”

WE SUGGEST that nobody approaches East Thurrock boss, John Coventry, pats him on the back and says: “Nothing can go wrong now!”

But East Thurrock United are slowly edging closer and closer to the Ryman Div One North title that Covo and his team covets so much.

Last night, challengers, Needham Market dropped another two points as they could only draw 2-2 away at Potters Bar.

This leaves the Rocks six points in front, having played one game more and with six to play.

For the first time, Rocks know that if they win all their games they will win the title.

They travel to Heybridge Swifts on Saturday. Covo had a good look at them as he watched them draw against Grays Ath.

But the big games at Rookery Hill will be Needham on April 9th followed by the form team in the division, Brentwood on April 16th.

Surely, it won’t come down to April 25th when East Thurrock are at home to their tenants, Grays Athletic?
