Stephen Metcalfe, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock visited Hassenbrook School in Stanford-le-Hope this week where he met with Year 11 students, Headteacher, Richard Glasby and Chair of Governors Sir Graham Bright.
Mr Metcalfe embarked on a tour of the school with the Headteacher and visited a Year 9 group of students in the i-lab (interactive classroom) who where taking part in a coaching programme put in place to enable them to help other students improve their approaches to learning. There was also time for Head Boy and Head Girl, Mitchell Howley and Kirby Troy to discuss various issues relating to young people and about their roles in school
Headteacher, Richard Glasby said ‘This was a successful visit enabling us to show Stephen Metcalfe MP our school in action across various subject areas. A group of citizenship students also engaged in a half hour discussion debating key political issues of the day with the MP, an exercise beneficial for all involved. We welcomed his input and equally he expressed his commitment to giving support to the school in all aspects of its work.’
