Sabrina Sangha was shortlisted to the final three of the 30 candidates for the Law Society Solicitors in Local Government Young Solicitor of the Year Award 2011
She works in Thurrock’s corporate team where she specialises in contracts, commissioning and procurement and received a Special Commendation from the Chairman of SLG, Stephen Turner at the event in Exeter on Friday, 15 April.
Mr Turner said Sabrina’s contribution to local government throughout the year was of outstanding quality, and that client feedback was exceptional.
Head of Legal at Thurrock Council, Tasnim Shawkat, added: “Although she did not win the final prize, she received a Special Commendation, high praise indeed for such a young lawyer. At 26 she was one of the youngest to enter and considerably younger and less experienced than the other shortlisted candidates.”
Sabrina said: “It’s a great honour to first be nominated for this prestigious award and then to be shortlisted against such high-calibre candidates.”
“Considering I only have 18 months post qualified experience it was a great achievement for me and I’d like to really pass on my thanks to all my colleagues at Thurrock for their help and support.”
