The Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary was the subject of this months meeting.
Fran Smith showed slides and told the story of how this sanctuary came into being.
Sue Burton the founder came across a horse that had been badly neglected and rescued it. The slides shown of the animals demonstrated how the sanctuary has restored the health of horses that were neglected and left to die. From a few horses this place has rizen to accommodate a variety of animals, sheep goats, cows, donkeys as well as horses. This large organisation from its few paid dedicated staff now has a crowd of volunteers.
From children to senior citizens these give their time and dedication to help the animals. One of the patrons for this sanctuary is Lord Peter of Ingatestone Hall.
The Sanctuary is open to visitors and is a lovely place for all ages to see. There are at this time 200 animals in residence.
