Sign up for summer fun at Grangewaters

Looking for something to keep the children busy over the summer holidays?

Thurrock Council’s Grangewaters Outdoor Education Centre in South Ockendon could well have the answer — Acti-fun.

The centre in Buckles Lane offers a very popular programme of activities for children and young people aged eight to 16 during the school holidays.

The summer programme this year offers three options – multi-activity days, dinghy sailing weeks and paddle sports weeks.

The multi-activity days include such things as raft building, abseiling, and even orienteering.

All the activities offer parents and carers peace of mind that the young people are safe and occupied from the minute they are dropped off until they are collected at the end of the day.

Morning drop-off is between 8.30am and 9am with collection at 5pm. All the young people need to bring with them is a packed lunch, drinks, change of clothes and a towel.

Details of what is available can be seen on the Grangewaters web pages at

This summer the days are available from Monday, 25 July until Friday, 2 September, five days a week at a cost of £25 a day.

To make a booking — and all places must be booked, you cannot just arrive on the day — either e-mail or call 01708 855228.

  1. Good value for money but lets hope there will be some free activities for children whos parents cannont afford £25 per day.

Not just those on benefits, those living close to the bread line and have had to cancel their summer breaks due to the financial pressures and possible redundancies.

  2. I agree no holiday for me and my little man this year..he is going to Grangewaters for weekend with the school £112..not so cheap, told him to try everything and eat everything, well I got to get your monies worth!
