FINAL preparations are being made for this year’s Stanford Music festival being held on the 2nd July on the Recreation Ground in Billet Lane Stanford le Hope.
It will be the same stage set up as last year which will allow them to showcase local acts from this year’s Thurrock’s Got Talent during the band changeover, meaning there will be virtually constant music once the show starts at 1 pm with a Thurrock’s Got Talent Showcase, and dance troupe session.
The Stanford Music Festival will be officially opened at 2pm by local MP Stephen Metcalfe who will introduce George Redwood, winner of this year’s Thurrock’s Got Talent to get the show on the road.
George said “I’m really looking forward to appearing at this year’s festival, not only am I opening the show but I’m appearing again later on in the programme. It’s going to be a great experience appearing in front of all those people”
The first of four new bands appearing this year, The Beagles get the bands underway for the start of 8 hours of non-stop music, with eight bands and over 10 solo artists appearing.
The music is in the main covers of some of your favourite songs from the 60’s right through to today’s hits. For a full listing of acts appearing visit: www.tgt.me.uk
There is plenty of room on the recreation ground so take your chairs and a blanket and enjoy the day, why not bring a picnic or take advantage of the food stalls available. The Crooked Billet Pub, which is under new management, is on hand to supply refreshments. There is also a fairground on site from the 30th June; this is truly a family day out with something for all ages.
Terry Piccolo Chair of the Stanford Forum who have been organising the event for the past 11 years said “The Stanford Music Festival has built up a strong following over the years, it’s has a great atmosphere which attracts families and individuals of all ages. The acts this year are as good as ever with some stunning new turns coming through from Thurrock’s Got Talent, so don’t miss out on this great day out”.
