IT HAS been without doubt a challenging first year for Thurrock Council chief executive, Graham Farrant but a year into the job, Mr Farrant has enjoyed and indeed flourished in the role.
There is clearly a strong partnership between Graham and the leader of the council, cllr John Kent, who both appeared to have focussed on taking care of the business in hand and pushing the politics into the periphery.
The word “interim” is starting to be consigned to history and the debt challenges have been met head on. Yes, there are still concerns to cuts in certain services which many believe have not hit home yet and in the midst of the riots and disorder, just a few miles away, there will be one eye on how hard the cuts have hit community services.
