UNTIL NOW, Grays School and Media Arts College in Hathaway Road seems to have been the forgotten school when it comes to funding arrangements.
The school had hoped to be the beneficiary of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme but were unsuccessful. Since then they have seen school after school move forward when it comes to funding whilst their school stood still.
But at last nights cabinet meeting, £1.3 million of capital that was to be allocated to the Chafford Hundred Campus (now the Harris Academy) will be allocated to Grays School.
Discussions between the council and Harris Academy broke down over the provision of trades and practical learning courses.
The Grays proposal is to remodel and refurbish existing buildings on the site to provide trades skills and practical courses such as Construction, Motor Vehicle, Hair and Beauty, Plumbing and Electrical.
It will also enable improved ICT facilities.
The courses will be delivered in partnership with other local providers.
