Harris Academy mourns tragic death of much loved student Oli

HARRIS ACADEMY students held a candlelit vigil last night following the tragic death of one of its most cherished students.

Oliver “Oli” Scott, 18 from North Stifford died on Friday night.

Tributes have been flooding in for the student who clearly made a deep impression on everyone he met.

Oli had just started back at Harris Academy as an apprentice in the IT Department.

His time at the school was one of achievement and service. He acted in many plays, took a full role in student council and was highly visible as a school ambassador in their open evenings.

Oli was also clearly quite a character and many students have made reference to his love of Spongebob Squarepants.

But there was a serious side to the young man. He was highly praised on his work experience weeks. He spent time with award winning media company Pixelwork who praised him for his application and industry.

A Facebook tribute page was set up yesterday morning as news filtered across the borough. Thousands have already joined the site. Flowers, photos and candles have been left by the entrance to the school.

Executive head, Chris Tomlinson and his staff have the challenge this morning of caring for many grieving students.

Further tributes to come.
