Eighth Annual John Street Clean-Up

RECENTLY, about 40 people went litter picking the streets and green spaces and cleaning the alleyways around John Street, Grays. People came from The Orchard Forum, Seabrooke Rise Community House and the members of the All Saints Centre who also supplied refreshments and bacon butties.


Local residents gave permission for the use of the brown bins, and six were completely filled with green waste, and then the council came and collected a further 94 bags of rubbish.

There was a prize for the most usually piece of rubbish collected, and the prize of two tickets to Rock Thurrock at the Civic Hall went to Daisy Kirby, Vice Chair of Seabrooke Rise youth committee and Conner Watts a member of the Thurrock Youth Cabinet, together they had retrieved a complete car windscreen that had been left in one of the alleyways.

Councillor Mike Stone, who had been working with the group all morning, commented of the difference the group had made. The members of the All Saints centre have been carrying out an annual Street Clean for 8 years now.
