A MAN is due to appear in court later today (Thursday) after having been charged with an offence following a fire in Grays.
Police were contacted shortly after 9pm on Tuesday, September 27 by the owner of a motorcycle which had been set fire to next to his house on Lodge Lane.
Officers arrived to find firefighters extinguishing the blaze which had started at the house and spread to the kitchen.
A few hours later, two people from Grays were arrested with a 17-year-old boy subsequently charged with one count of committing arson with intent to endanger life. He has been detained in police custody prior to his appearance at Southend Youth Court today (Thursday, September 29).
A 40-year-old man from Grays has been released on police bail until Sunday, November 6 pending further enquiries.
