Football: Aveley sack their manager

Ryman Premier Division strugglers Aveley have sacked manager Carl Griffiths, after less than 12 months in charge.

The Millers, have won just twice so far this season, and are 18th in the table, just outside the relegation places.

Former Leyton Orient and Shrewsbury player Griffiths, replaced Alan Kimble in the Aveley dug-out in November 2010.

“The club feel it is the right time for us to change personnel,” secretary Craig Johnson told the club’s website.

“[We will be] giving a new manager the opportunity and time to hopefully turn our season around.”

“Carl has been very understanding of the club’s position and left the ground on very good terms.”
