DUE to the increased awareness and interest in the involvement of Essex as a host county for the London 2012 Games, Essex County Council announced today their extension of the application deadline for the Essex Ambassadors Volunteer Scheme, to Friday 2nd December 2011 giving more people the opportunity to apply
The ngage Volunteer Centre are looking for Thurrock volunteers from all walks of life, who are passionate about Essex, a people person that is keen to be involved in the London 2012 Games and know you have what it takes to become an Essex Ambassador.
Essex County Council is working together with local Volunteer Centres to try and recruit Essex Ambassador volunteers who will become stewards to meet visitors from all over the UK and the World during the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
There will be two main roles for volunteers
1) To provide information and guidance on the Games events, transport queries and general tourist information at the main transport hubs across Essex, such as airports, railways stations etc.
2) To act as stewards at events leading up to the Games such as the Essex ‘Sparks Will Fly’ cultural programme, the Olympic Torch Relay and at Hadleigh Farm Olympic Mountain bike competitions.
As an Essex Ambassador volunteer you will learn new skills through the three sessions of training you will receive prior to your volunteering and you will meet lots of new people from all over the world.
