Sickening robbery of Ockendon pensioner by youths

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Afton Drive, South Ockendon.

At 8.25pm on Saturday, October 29, three suspects approached the victim, a 77-year-old man, before grabbing his arms and stealing his wallet from his pocket. He didn’t sustain any visible injuries. £140 cash was stolen. They then made their way back down Afton Drive towards Daiglen Drive.

Investigating officer, Pc Adam Goodger, said: “This incident was totally unprovoked and the suspects are much younger than the victim. He was on his way home from a day out when the incident took place. I am appealing for any witnesses that may have been in the area when the offence took place or that saw people that matched these descriptions earlier in the night.

“Someone in the local area may have heard the suspects talking about this incident and I urge them to contact me either directly at the police station or through Crimestoppers.”

Suspect one was of mixed race, 15 to 16, 5ft6 to 5ft7, slim build, short dark crew-cut hair style, dark coloured peak cap, grey jacket with a red t-shirt underneath, blue jeans and spoke with a local accent.

Suspect two was a white man, 15 to 16, 5ft6 to 5ft7, slim build, short dark hair, white coloured t-shirt with a motif, small gold earring in his right earlobe and spoke with a local accent.

Suspect three was a white man, 15 to 16, 5ft6 to 5ft7, slim build, short dark hair, spoke with a local accent, wearing a grey t-shirt and grey shorts.
