LAKESIDE Shopping Centre has funded an Arts Adventure project as one of its 21 Good Deeds. Developed in consultation with staff at a local children’s hospice (Little Havens), carefully selected musicians, writers, dancers and storytellers visited the children for a day and enabled them to take part in stimulating, creative workshops.
The project was used to help the young, local patients cope with the anxiety and stress of illness, and provide a distraction from their medical procedures
Sophie Scott, Marketing Manager for Lakeside, says; “Enhancing the quality of life for these young patients and their families is so important, so we were delighted to be able to bring a fantastic ArtsAdventure workshop to them. Our 21 Good Deeds are all about helping local charities and supporting our community, so this project was a perfect fit.”
Lakeside has made a pledge to carry out 21 Good Deeds during 2011. Local causes are being supported with donations and funding, and the Lakeside team are also getting out and about, doing all they can to help with a number of hands-on projects.
