5,000 tonnes of wood on fire at Tilbury Docks

FIRE CREWS were called to Tilbury Docks last night (Monday) to tackle a fire involving 5,000 tonnes of woodship.

2020hrs: Firefighters are using one hose reel to tackle the blaze, which they report as having one small seat of fire but buried deep in the woodchip pile.

At 21:17 hrs, crews report steady progress is being made. An industrial digger is being used to help firefighters uncover the seat of the fire.

Four appliances, an aerial ladder platform and a hose layer were sent to the scene as part of ECFRS’ pre-
determined attendance for incidents at the Docks.

At 21:17, the incident commander stood down the aerial ladder plaform, hose layer and support pump. At 21:30 hrs, three appliances remained at the scene.

The incident was dealt with by 21:32 hrs.
