EAST THURROCK United manager, John Coventry has gone on the record to scotch rumours about the financial state of the club.
Mr Coventry’s comments come after statements were made on the fans forum section of the Grays Athletic fans forum website.
According to Companies House, East Thurrock United Football Club Limited was dissolved on the 15th February, this year. East Thurrock United Football Club (2009) Limited was incorporated in July 2009.
John Coventry said:
“It has been brought to my intention that on the fans forum website of Grays Athletic FC currently contains a malicious thread which claims a rumour relating to East Thurrock FC.
“It is disappointing that Grays Athletic choose to permit their website to run what is acknowledged as a rumour that can only do damage to the reputation of another club, ironically one which the Grays Athletic club management acknowledges has played a substantial and ‘much appreciated’ role in ensuring the survival of Grays Athletic.
“For the purposes of clarity, the ‘rumour’ is based on the fact that an administrative process is in place relating to a change of company name of East Thurrock’s parent company and the creation of a new company.
“The change is intended to allow East Thurrock’s football section to run itself separately to other functions at the Rookery Hill site including the bar and other facilities.
“It is a move that is happening with full acknowledgement and supervision of the FA, the Ryman Football League and Essex FA – and also Companies House. The process is fully scrutinised at all levels and is recorded and recognised in administrative records of the Ryman League of which Grays Athletic officials will be aware.
East Thurrock Football Club is operating without debt. The club has a strong, financially safeguarded future ahead of it and has a long term plan to improve facilities at Rookery Hill and build on its strong community links, including junior sides from year three upwards and two thriving ladies teams.
“My reasons for this statement is to answer questions I have recieved today from an East Thurrock supporter.
“I do not wish to get involved in forums, but if people are still not clear on the situation please feel free to contact me. This includes supporters of other clubs or just people interested in the facts.”
