Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted burglary at a flat in Argent Street, Grays.
At 8.40pm on Monday, January 16, a suspect entered a block of flats and then tried to gain entry to a flat by trying to force the door down with a sledgehammer. They were disturbed by a neighbour and made off, causing £200 damage to the door.
Ds Eileen Mullins said: “Thankfully the suspects didn’t get into the flat, but they used a considerable display of force in their efforts to try and get in, and we need to catch them. Did you see anyone in the area with a sledgehammer or do you know who they are? Please call us if you have any information.
The suspects are described as two men. One was wearing light grey jogging bottoms, a grey hoodie, black gloves and carrying a white carrier bag. The second suspect was dressed all in black, with a grey hoodie under his jacket and a blue baseball cap.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Ds Mullins at the Thurrock CID target offender team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
