THE Mayor of Thurrock had a little physiotherapy treatment on Monday (13 February).
He was at the Oakfield Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in Blackshots lane, Grays, to help them celebrate their new look and re-launch along with dance-craze group Diversity. The clinic wanted to control the temperature of their treatment rooms and reception, changing their old storage heaters with something that could be better controlled, with the option of cooling for summer months.
They were awarded a £2,869.68 grant from the Low Carbon Business programme and Thurrock Council who spent time with the firm, suggesting a new condensing inverter system.
The original strip lighting was replaced with high frequency energy efficient fluorescent tube lights (T8s) and infra-red sensors which detect when someone enters, switching on the light, then switching it back off when there is no movement.
The treatment rooms were also partitioned to make them more private for clients and help control the temperature. Six Daikin 2.5 kW wall mounted condensing inverter units were also installed; one in each treatment room and one into the reception.
A local Purfleet firm, Taylored Electrical Services Ltd, was used to install the work.
Of the total project cost of £8,609 the programme was able to approve a European Regional Development Fund grant of £2,869.
As a result, it is predicted that the firm’s electricity usage will reduce by around 11,000 kWh per year, an annual saving of £900.
