A FEW YEARS AGO, there was a real concern that Thurrock primary schools simply could not attract the calibre of “super-heads” that would help improve the state of Thurrock primaries.
Since then, quality heads such as Lallie Godfrey at Orsett and Martin Cowpland at Quarry Hill have blazed a trail in the borough.
With last nights decision to close Stifford Clays Infant school was made it led us to wonder who was the interim head of the Junior School?
Anthony Peltier has something of a reputation as a super-head, blazing a trail for a number of primary schools across South-East London.
But he is best known for winning a Pride of Britain Bravery award in 2002 for saving the life of a young man who had been the victim of a gang-related knife attack.
Here, in this interview, he reflects upon that experience.

A super hero does not necessarily make a super head! His pride of Britain award, whilst undoubtly deserved, is not a reflection of teaching.
My Daughter attends this school and i actually think he is a great asset to Stifford Clays and look foward to what he will achieve with the change to a Primary school!
