Second Tilbury man charged over Rhino head

A SECOND man has been charged in connection with the theft of a rhinoceros head from Haslemre Educational Museum.

Tony Moore, from Tilbury in Essex, was charged with conspiracy to burgle after an appeal on the BBC Crimewatch programme led to information on the theft reports Get Surrey.

The 30-year-old, from Tilbury in Essex, will appear at South West Surrey Magistrates Court on March 6, alongside Jamie Channon, also of Tilbury, who was charged in November last year.

The rhino head, thought to have been targeted for the ivory in its horn, was taken from the museum in Haslemere High Street in the early hours of May 27, 2011.

Both men have been charged with a further offence of conspiracy to burgle £60,000 worth of cigarettes from 13 supermarkets across the south east, including Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Hertfordshire.
